The Plan

Right now, you should be thinking of your game idea & design. Make creative use of the theme (optional). If your idea requires it, you should be assembling a team. When you arrive at TOJam #5, your game design should be complete, and your team ready to go. Programmers should arrive with tedious infrastructure code working (menu system, titles, fonts, keyboard & mouse inputs). Artists should arrive with tedious assets already created. We want everyone concentrating on creating a great game at the jam, rather than building the foundation.

On Friday April 23, you and 160 game makers will descend upon George Brown College. Plan to arrive Friday between 3:00pm and 7:00pm (10:00am if approved for early arrival). You will bring your machine, and other things. You will setup your machine in a room we assign, and spend the next 3 days cranking out an amazing game (following the rules). George Brown will be providing dinner on Sunday and Saturday. Otherwise food is your responsibility.

While strongly not recommended, if transportation and lodging are an issue, it is possible to spend the entire time at George Brown College - Friday 3:00pm until Sunday 11:00pm. If you attempt that, be sure to pack accordingly. There are no formal sleeping or shower facilities available at George Brown. Unlike last year, there are no couches either.

Zombie

Do not plan on staying awake the entire time - it's unhealthy, and it doesn't work. One all nighter might yield dividends, but two all nighters simply means Sunday is a write-off. You might be awake, but you will be useless. Everyone who has attempted this now plans on going home, or sleeping at the event. If you don't sleep, do not drive.

Graphics artists and Audio gurus will be floating around creating content for whoever requests it. Remember, it's not a competition, so don't hesitate to help out your fellow jammers, should the opportunity arise. Jim, Em, Rob, Jerry, Andrew, Nelson and Paul will of course be there for emotional and moral support.

Pac-Jam!

The Ending

When TOJam finishes Sunday evening, we will celebrate! Everyone will wander the rooms joyously playing the games that didn't exist 3 days earlier. Prizes will be raffled to everyone that completes a game. (People's Choice awards have been moved to the TOJam Arcade)

The Public TOJam Arcade™

Late May, we are once again inviting all of Toronto to play the games created at TOJam #5. In addition to playing, the audience will be voting on various aspects. A night of laughing, drinking and playing games... what could be better. This year we intend to extend the arcade into the weekend. More info soon...

Life After TOJam

Does your game have potential? Did your team work well together? Why not expand and polish the game - it could lead to new opportunities. Plus, we're more than happy to keep posting and advertising improved versions of your game on this site.
