The Plan

Right now, you should be thinking of your game idea & design. Make sure it relates to the theme, in some way. If your idea requires it, you should be assembling a team. When you arrive at TOJam #4, your game design should be complete, and your team ready to go. Programmers need to ensure they understand the basics of the technology they've chosen. i.e. displaying graphics, processing keyboard input Even better, come with a basic framework (menu system, titles, fonts, keyboard & mouse inputs) working.

On Friday May 1, you and 100 game makers will descend upon Innovation Toronto. Plan to arrive Friday between 10:00am and 7:00pm You will bring your machine, and other things. You will setup your machine in a room we assign, and spend the next 3 days cranking out an amazing game (following the rules). Food is your responsibility, although we're hoping to provide snacks.

Although not recommended, if transportation and lodging are an issue, it is possible to spend the entire time at Innovation Toronto - Friday 10:00am until Sunday 11:00pm. If you do that, be sure to pack accordingly. There are no formal sleeping or shower facilities available at Innovation Toronto, but there is 1 room available where people can sleep on the floor (some couches too).

Jonathan Mak after TOJam #1

Do not plan on staying awake the entire time - it's unhealthy, and it doesn't work. One all nighter might yield dividends, but two all nighters simply means Sunday is a write-off i.e. You might be awake, but you'll be useless. Previous jammers who have attempted this now plan on sleeping there, or going home.

Graphics artists and Audio gurus will be floating around creating content for whoever requests it. Remember, it's not a competition, so don't hesitate to help out your fellow jammers, should the opportunity arise. Jim, Em, Rob, Jerry, Andrew, Nelson and Paul will of course be there for emotional and moral support.

Pac-Jam!

The Ending

When TOJam finishes Sunday evening, we will celebrate! Everyone will wander the rooms joyously playing and celebrating the games. Prizes will be raffled to everyone that completes a game. People's Choice awards have been moved to the TOJam Arcade.

The Public TOJam Arcade™

On Friday, May 22, we are inviting all of Toronto to play the games created at TOJam #4. In addition to playing, the audience will be voting on various aspects. More information soon...

Life After TOJam
