Description
3 crazy speech powered games (ala WarioWare) - requires Microphone. It is an experiment in using Microsoft's speech recognition system in a game. Speakeasy works best in a quiet environment and a decent microphone (ones built into laptops are terrible).

How to Play
Speech Ladder
Try to build a crossword bridge to the left side or bottom. Only words that can use spoken are related to the theme (i.e birds or fruit) and your spoken word must start with a letter in the previous word.

Slang Bang
Just say the phrases the pop onto the screen.

Rap-A-Long
Repeat the words Master Chop Chop says for points! The (shortened) 90 second clip is from Parappa The Rapper for the PS1 for those who have never played the game. PaRappa and all characters are owned and copyrighted by Sony.

Installation Instructions
Heavy Install - speech engine
1.   Microsoft Speech Recognition Engine 6.1.
It's installed automatically by Office 2003 and Windows XP Tablet Edition. Otherwise, install Speech SDK 5.1.
2.   Setup microphone in Control Panel
3.   Download Game, Unzip and double click "\bin\Speakeasy.exe".

Game will NOT start without a working microphone.
Office 2007 and Windows Vista use a version of the MS Speech that breaks Speakeasy.

Technologies Used
C++, Microsoft Speech Recognition, OGRE 3D, fmod

Fun Facts
Nelson also created Burning Lips.
Don't let anyone hear you play 'Slang Bang'.

Jim's Corner
Speech Ladder and Slang Bang will make you laugh. Speech Ladder forces you to think of words that belong to a group (i.e. Birds). Unexpectedly, that's hard to do so you wind up shouting any word you can. Slang Bang presents an ethical dilemna - shout lewd phrases or lose. Anyone can win, but at what cost?

YouTube Bonus

Nelson created videos of the 3 games. Listen for his voice - it's dreamy.
