Official TOJam Game Reviews - Greg Beaton
The mighty Greg Beaton has
reviewed all 36 TOJam #4 games.
They said he couldn't do it, but no-one tells Greg what he can't do.
Great reviews, great blog, great Greg.
People's Choice Awards
On May 22nd, ~150 people attended the
TOJam #4 Arcade.
Between 8 and 10:30pm, all 37 games were shown and played.
The public voted on their favourite games (gold, silver, puce),
including the one they felt best fit the "Scale" theme.
An award ceremony was held at 11:00pm for the winners.
For your convenience, we highlight them here.
THEME
SCALE
SCALE uses a genius new game mechanic based entirely around scale.
You're a ball rolling through a world that you can zoom in and out.
The ball always remains the same size.
This leads to many original puzzles that can only be solved by thinking and scaling.
Not just a great use of theme, but also a great game. Brilllllllliant!
Gold
Category 5
Who doesn't want to be a hurricane?
Keeping it powered by constantly circling your mouse is inspired.
That mapping makes you feel like a hurricane.
Picking up larger and larger stuff is icing on the cake.
New Idea + New Controls + Great Execution = Gold.
Silver
Flock U
Great multiplayer game featuring a unique flocking mechanic and great characters.
Gathering a swarm and sicking it on another player feels great.
Did I mention how good everything looks?
Destined for
Fuzion Frenzy 3.
Puce - Tie
Cheese-ohol 2
A drinking game featuring the greatest use of Wii-motes ever
(Tape Wii-mote to Beer = Beer-Mote). You literally drink to play the game.
The surreal yet simple gameplay completes the experience,
especially if you're an alcoholic.
Puce - Tie
RoshamBlaster
A horizontal side scrolling shooter featuring rock / paper / scissor mechanics.
What makes it Puce are the wild and crazy giant boss fights!
I didn't know Flash could do this.
