Fun Facts
This is the first interactive fiction ever created at TOJam.
I spent 8 hours trying to get this to run in a browser.
Nothing worked, and it turns out I was on the cutting edge.
Even
Emiliy Short, undisputed queen of interactive fiction,
requires her adventure games to be downloaded.
This explains why no-one knows what interactive fiction is.
Installation Instructions
Medium Install - game created with "Inform 7"
- If you don't have it already, install the Java Runtime 1.6+
- Download game. Execute "Domesticity_Run_zmpp-1.5-preview1.jar" which is an interactive fiction player.
- It immediately prompts you to open a text adventure.
Pick "Domesticity_v1.1_Leif_Conti_Groome.zblorb" and play.

Jim's Corner
I have a confession. I hate adventure games.
That being said, the beginning of "Domesticity" reeled me in.
I honestly did not know what was going on.
I had to read it a few times to understand I wasn't on some alien world.
After that I explored the house and was pleasantly surprised by all the little details.
I patted myself on the back for finding (and taking) those dead roses.
Still don't know what they're for...
What kept me interested was the fact death lurked around every corner.
I quickly learned not to try wearing clothes from the hamper,
and to obey whatever orders my girlfriend barks. i.e. "get over here NOW" is not a request
if I want to avoid a bizarre tophat mishap. Looming Death + Ongoing Confusion = Just One More Time.
