TOJam Code of Conduct

TOJam is committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or religion. We will not tolerate behaviour that suggests otherwise.

 

Expected Behaviour

  • Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative. aka. Don't be a Jerk

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behaviour and speech

  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants, i.e. keep it down in the classrooms

 

Unacceptable Behaviour

  • Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct. aka. Being a Jerk

  • Physical, written, or verbal abuse

  • Any boisterous, lewd or offensive behaviour or language, including but not limited to using sexually explicit or offensive language, materials or conduct, or any language, behaviour or content that contains profanity, obscene gestures, or racial, religious, gender, or ethnic slurs

  • Threats, harassment, stalking, use of any physical force whatsoever against any person

  • Harassment includes: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability, nudity, sexual images

  • Harassment also includes inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention. During the jam, you can assume that any sexual attention is unwelcome 

  • Respect everyone’s personal space. Don’t assume others’ comfort level with handshakes or hugs, even among friends 

  • Playing games. Minor compared to the above, but it kills TOJam's spirit

In addition to the above guidelines please be aware of the below expectations in our Discord Server:

  • No spamming/trolling/excessive self-promo. Sharing things you're proud of is okay! 

  • No NSFW images (including memes). Even if you think it may not be considered NSFW, it could still be offensive to someone else. If you’re unsure, please bring this to a moderator 

  • Please respect all personal boundaries, other jammers, volunteers, and organizers 

  • If you feel you are being targeted by another community member, send a message to a moderator

  • If you don’t feel well - please stay home! You can still participate in the jam remotely

  • While we don’t require use of PPE, we do encourage it

Consequences

  • You'll be kicked out, immediately (in person or Discord)

  • If it's small (the organizers will decide what's small), you'll be given a warning and asked to stop immediately

 

If you're a target of unacceptable behaviour, or witness unacceptable behaviour, please contact Alex (alex@tojam.ca) or Jenny (jenny@tojam.ca), or any organizer (or a volunteer who will get an organizer) and we'll handle things quickly and ANONYMOUSLY.
